Our most important meetings start with just three words: “How are you?”

At Excelsea, these important meetings are called Pulse Checks and are monthly one-on-one conversations between employees and their team leader. What’s special about them is that the employees set the agenda, while the team leader primarily listens.
Because our team works across four time zones, many of these conversations take place remotely. To keep them meaningful, we’ve defined a few ground rules:
➡️ Camera on – non-verbal communication matters
➡️ Full focus – no emails, no phones, no side tasks
➡️ Undisturbed environment – privacy is key
➡️ Regular appointments – not just when there’s a problem
➡️ Preparation & follow-up by employees
➡️ Mutual clarity on what stays confidential
➡️ Use of HR tools for scheduling & documentation
This way, we create a safe space for honest feedback, personal development, and new ideas – even across distances.
